Lilting Melodies

She sat upon a shaded bench,
While shadows crossed her face.
She whispered to the luscious land,
The beauty she had seen.
She walked the earth with sun and moon,
And spoke out to the sea.
There she lay her delicate frame,
To find what she had been.
Forever rests her spirit there,
A song of lilting melodies.
Her memory in all the land,
Lays sacred in their hands.
A little girl who’s only wish,
Was never to be seen.
So there she lay, beneath the waves, in a forgotten sea,
And when she walked the earth once more,
She swore her love to thee.
